MOZA R21 Ultra Bundles – 21Nm High-Torque Direct Drive
The MOZA R21 Ultra is aimed at sim racers who want to move into high-torque direct drive without simply chasing the highest possible torque figure. Its 21Nm output provides substantial force feedback strength and headroom for detailed effects without requiring the wheelbase to be operated near its maximum output.
An R21 Ultra bundle combines the wheelbase with your choice of compatible MOZA steering wheel, allowing the setup to be matched more closely to the type of racing you actually drive.
Who Is the MOZA R21 Ultra For?
The R21 Ultra is best suited to experienced sim racers with a rigid cockpit capable of supporting a 21Nm direct drive wheelbase.
It makes particular sense if you are moving up from an R9 V3 or R12 V2 and want considerably more torque headroom, or if you are building a higher-end simulator where the wheelbase is unlikely to be the first component you want to upgrade later.
You do not need to run the wheelbase at its full 21Nm to benefit from the additional capacity. The available torque gives you greater scope to configure force feedback around your own preference while retaining headroom for stronger effects.
Choose the Right Wheel for Your R21 Ultra
At this level, steering wheel choice becomes particularly important because different wheel sizes and designs can noticeably change the feel of the force feedback.
A Formula or GT-style wheel is a natural choice for Formula, GT, prototype and endurance racing, particularly where quicker steering inputs and a compact wheel shape are preferred.
A larger round wheel is better suited to rally, drifting, road cars and other disciplines that involve greater steering rotation and more frequent hand movement around the wheel.
Our R21 Ultra bundles give you a choice of compatible MOZA steering wheels, so you can select the wheelbase and wheel combination that best matches your racing rather than buying a fixed package.
Add Pedals at a Discounted Bundle Price
Most MOZA R21 Ultra wheelbase and steering wheel bundles do not include pedals as standard.
Instead, many of our bundles allow you to add compatible MOZA pedals at a discounted bundle price. With several MOZA pedal options available, you can choose a pedal set appropriate for your budget and the level of simulator you are building.
MOZA shifters, handbrakes and additional steering wheels can also be added separately, allowing the setup to be expanded for different racing disciplines.
R16 Ultra vs R21 Ultra vs R25 Ultra
The R21 Ultra occupies an important position within MOZA’s higher-torque direct drive range.
The R16 Ultra provides 16Nm and may be the better choice if you want high-performance direct drive without needing more than 16Nm of available torque.
The R21 Ultra increases this to 21Nm, providing considerably more headroom while sitting below the flagship 25Nm option.
The R25 Ultra provides 25Nm for drivers specifically looking for MOZA’s highest-torque option.
For many high-end cockpit builds, the R21 Ultra therefore provides a compelling middle ground between the R16 Ultra and R25 Ultra. For a full comparison of the range, see our MOZA Wheelbase Buying Guide.

FAQs
Is 21Nm too much for sim racing?
You do not have to operate the R21 Ultra at its maximum 21Nm output. The additional torque provides headroom and allows the force feedback level to be configured to suit your own preference.
Do I need a cockpit for the MOZA R21 Ultra?
A strong, rigid sim racing cockpit is recommended. A 21Nm direct drive wheelbase can generate substantial forces, so the wheelbase mounting and cockpit need to be appropriate for high-torque direct drive hardware.
Is the R21 Ultra worth choosing over the R16 Ultra?
The main consideration is whether you want the additional torque headroom. The R16 Ultra provides 16Nm, whereas the R21 Ultra provides 21Nm. If 16Nm is sufficient for your requirements, the R16 Ultra may be the more appropriate choice.
Should I buy the R21 Ultra or R25 Ultra?
The R21 Ultra provides 21Nm compared with 25Nm from the R25 Ultra. The R25 Ultra is aimed at drivers wanting the highest torque option, while the R21 Ultra provides high-torque performance with 4Nm less maximum output.
Which steering wheel should I choose for an R21 Ultra bundle?
For Formula, GT, prototype and endurance racing, a Formula or GT-style wheel is usually the natural choice. A larger round wheel is generally better suited to rally, drifting and road-car simulation.
Can I add pedals to an R21 Ultra bundle?
Yes. Most bundles do not include pedals as standard, but many of our R21 Ultra bundles allow you to add compatible MOZA pedals at a discounted bundle price, with different pedal options available.
