Qubic System QS-V20
The Qubic System QS-V20 is a professional 4DOF motion cockpit with integrated traction loss, designed for high-end sim racing, professional driver training and advanced simulation.
Unlike motion systems that require separate traction-loss hardware, the QS-V20 combines heave, roll, pitch and yaw within a single integrated cockpit. Yaw provides physical rear-end movement for oversteer and traction-loss feedback, while pitch, roll and heave reproduce braking, acceleration, cornering and vertical track movement.
Powered by high-performance Qubic QS-220 linear actuators, the QS-V20 provides 100mm actuator stroke, movement speeds up to 800mm/s, acceleration up to approximately 0.9G and vibration feedback from 0–100Hz.
The complete cockpit incorporates adjustable mounting for the steering wheel, racing seat and pedals, providing an integrated alternative to installing a motion system underneath a separate sim racing cockpit.

Integrated 4DOF Motion Cockpit
The QS-V20 combines the simulator cockpit and motion platform into one purpose-designed system.
Its four degrees of freedom are:
Heave – vertical movement
Roll – side-to-side rotation
Pitch – forward and backward rotation
Yaw – rotation associated with rear-end movement and traction loss
This gives the QS-V20 an important advantage over a conventional 3DOF motion system: traction-loss movement is already integrated into the platform.
There is therefore no requirement to add a separate traction-loss platform simply to introduce yaw movement.
Built-In Traction Loss
The QS-V20’s integrated yaw axis is one of its defining features.
Its rotation point is positioned around the front actuator area, allowing the rear of the simulator to move laterally as the platform rotates.
In sim racing, this movement can be used to reproduce physical cues associated with oversteer, rear-wheel slip and traction loss.
This is particularly relevant for rally and drifting, where rear-end movement is a fundamental part of controlling the vehicle, but it is equally useful for communicating rear-axle behaviour in GT, Formula and other circuit racing.
Feel Braking & Acceleration
The QS-V20 uses pitch movement to provide physical cues associated with longitudinal vehicle behaviour.
Under braking, the cockpit can pitch forwards. During acceleration, the motion profile can provide the corresponding rearward rotational cue.
Combined with steering force feedback and pedal input, this introduces physical movement through the driver’s body that a conventional static simulator cannot reproduce.
For even greater braking and acceleration feedback, the QS-V20 can also be combined with the Qubic QS-BT1 Belt Tensioner.
Feel Cornering Through Roll
The roll axis introduces side-to-side rotation in response to vehicle telemetry.
During cornering, this can provide physical movement associated with lateral vehicle behaviour and load transfer.
Because the QS-V20 coordinates roll with its other motion axes, cornering feedback can be combined with pitch, heave and yaw rather than operating as an isolated effect.
True Heave Movement
The QS-V20 provides genuine vertical heave movement, allowing the complete cockpit to move upwards and downwards.
This can reproduce physical cues associated with:
Kerbs
Bumps
Track elevation
Compressions
Crests
Road surfaces
Suspension movement
Qubic specifies approximately 103mm of total heave excursion, from -51.8mm to +51.5mm.
This vertical movement is particularly important for communicating track surface and elevation changes through the driver’s body.
High-Performance QS-220 Actuators
At the heart of the QS-V20 are Qubic System QS-220 linear actuators.
These professional motion actuators provide 100mm of stroke and are capable of extremely rapid movement.
In Q-MODE on a suitable 230V electrical supply, Qubic specifies maximum heave performance of up to approximately:
800mm/s velocity
0.9G acceleration
The QS-V20 also provides a 0–100Hz vibration feedback range, allowing the actuators to reproduce higher-frequency physical detail alongside larger cockpit movement.
8ms Motion Response
A motion system needs to respond quickly to telemetry if the physical movement is to remain synchronised with what the driver sees and feels.
The QS-V20 operates within Qubic’s professional low-latency motion architecture, with approximately 8ms system response.
This rapid response allows movement to remain closely synchronised with vehicle telemetry rather than feeling noticeably delayed.
Designed for GT, Formula, Rally & Drift
The QS-V20 is suitable for a wide range of sim racing disciplines.
For GT and endurance racing, pitch, roll and heave provide physical feedback associated with braking, acceleration, cornering and track surfaces.
For Formula racing, the fast motion response can communicate rapid changes in vehicle behaviour.
For rally and drifting, integrated yaw provides the additional rear-end movement required for traction-loss and oversteer feedback.
This makes the QS-V20 particularly attractive for drivers who use several different racing disciplines and want a single integrated motion cockpit.
QS-V20 for Professional Driver Training
The QS-V20 isn’t limited to home sim racing.
Qubic System also designed the platform for professional driver training and commercial simulation applications.
Its integrated cockpit, industrial-grade actuator technology and configurable motion software make it suitable for applications including:
Professional motorsport simulation
Driver training and development
Commercial simulator centres
Motorsport hospitality
Racing experiences
Universities and research
Advanced home simulators
SimRacer UK can also specify the QS-V20 as part of a complete professional simulator package.
QS-V20 vs a 3DOF Motion System
A conventional four-actuator 3DOF motion system typically provides:
Pitch + Roll + Heave
The QS-V20 adds a fourth axis:
Yaw
That additional yaw movement provides integrated traction-loss and oversteer feedback.
With a conventional Qubic QS-210 or QS-220 3DOF installation, adding comparable independent surge and yaw movement would normally involve adding the separate QS-CH2 Traction Loss System, creating a 5DOF configuration.
The QS-V20 instead provides a compact integrated 4DOF architecture where yaw is already incorporated into the cockpit.
QS-V20 vs Qubic QS-CH2
The QS-V20 and QS-CH2 both provide yaw movement, but they are fundamentally different products.
The QS-V20 is a complete 4DOF motion cockpit providing:
Pitch + Roll + Heave + Yaw
The QS-CH2 is a 2DOF surge and yaw platform designed to move a compatible cockpit.
QS-CH2 can operate independently or be combined with a compatible Qubic 3DOF system to create:
Pitch + Roll + Heave + Surge + Yaw = 5DOF
Choose the QS-V20 if you want a purpose-designed integrated motion cockpit with traction loss already built in.
Consider a QS-CH2 configuration if you want to add surge and yaw to a separate compatible cockpit or existing Qubic motion system.
QS-V20 vs Qubic QS-S25
The QS-V20 and QS-S25 target different levels of motion simulation.
The QS-V20 provides an integrated 4DOF racing cockpit with pitch, roll, heave and yaw.
The QS-S25 is a professional 6DOF platform capable of:
Surge + Sway + Heave + Roll + Pitch + Yaw
The QS-S25 therefore provides independent linear surge and sway movement in addition to the axes available from the QS-V20.
However, the QS-V20 is substantially more compact and specifically designed around a complete racing cockpit, making it particularly attractive for high-end home simulators and professional racing installations where full 6DOF movement isn’t required.
QS-V20 or QS-S25 – Which Should I Choose?
Choose the QS-V20 if you want:
An integrated racing cockpit
4DOF motion
Built-in traction loss
Compact installation
GT, Formula, rally and drift simulation
A high-end home or professional racing simulator
Consider the QS-S25 if you specifically want:
Full 6DOF motion
Independent surge and sway
A larger motion envelope
Professional racing and flight simulation
A platform intended for the highest level of multi-axis simulation
For many premium home racing simulators, the QS-V20 provides an excellent balance between motion capability, footprint and system integration.
QS-BT1 Belt Tensioner Compatibility
The Qubic QS-BT1 Belt Tensioner can be integrated directly with the QS-V20.
The QS-BT1 uses two independently controlled direct drive channels to apply up to 200N of force per belt through a compatible racing harness.
Combining the two systems allows the QS-V20 to provide physical cockpit movement while the QS-BT1 provides additional telemetry-driven forces through the driver’s upper body.
The QS-V20 includes the mounting bracket for the QS-BT1, but the belt tensioner itself is sold separately.
Adjustable Driving Position
The QS-V20 is designed as a complete racing cockpit rather than simply a motion platform.
Adjustable mounting is provided for the main simulator controls, including:
Steering wheel / direct drive wheelbase
Racing seat
Pedals
This allows the driving position to be configured for different drivers and racing disciplines.
The integrated cockpit design also removes the need to select a separate aluminium profile chassis before adding motion.
Direct Drive Wheelbase Compatibility
The QS-V20 can accommodate high-performance direct drive wheelbases from leading sim racing manufacturers, subject to the appropriate mounting arrangement.
This makes it suitable for complete simulator builds using hardware from manufacturers such as Simucube, SIMAGIC, MOZA Racing, Asetek and other professional sim racing brands.
SimRacer UK can advise on wheelbase, steering wheel and pedal compatibility when specifying a complete QS-V20 simulator.
150kg Maximum User Weight
Qubic specifies a maximum user weight of 150kg for the basic QS-V20 platform without additional accessories.
This differs from the moving-payload specifications used for some modular motion platforms because the QS-V20 is supplied as an integrated cockpit.
If you’re planning a complete QS-V20 installation with additional hardware, SimRacer UK can help check the intended system configuration before ordering.
Compact Motion Cockpit
Despite its performance, the QS-V20 is designed to provide a relatively compact footprint for an integrated professional motion cockpit.
Approximate overall dimensions are:
Length: 1716mm
Width: 1195mm
Height: 1101mm
Its footprint makes it considerably easier to accommodate than larger professional 6DOF systems while still providing four independent motion axes and integrated traction loss.
Sufficient additional clearance must nevertheless be provided around the simulator to allow it to move safely.
Qubic Manager Motion Software
The QS-V20 is controlled through Qubic Manager, Qubic System’s dedicated motion-control software.
Qubic Manager translates supported game telemetry into physical movement and allows the motion profile to be configured according to the simulator, vehicle and driver’s preferences.
Motion intensity and individual effects can be adjusted, allowing the QS-V20 to be configured differently for GT, Formula, rally, drift and other supported simulations.
Qubic Manager is included with the system.
PC & VR Compatibility
The QS-V20 is designed around Windows PC simulation.
Qubic Manager currently supports Windows 10 and Windows 11 and integrates with a wide range of supported racing and flight simulation titles.
The system can also be used with compatible VR headsets, and Qubic provides its VR HeadWay technology to compensate for simulator movement in supported VR configurations.
The QS-V20 does not provide native PlayStation or Xbox motion support through Qubic Manager.
Power Requirements
The QS-V20 supports:
120/230V AC ±10%
50–60Hz
Single phase with ground and neutral
For UK installations using a 230V supply, Q-MODE provides access to the system’s highest performance configuration.
Qubic specifies approximately 80W average consumption during typical gameplay at 230V, although peak electrical requirements are considerably higher during rapid actuator movement.
Correct protective earth and residual-current circuit protection are required.
How Loud Is the QS-V20?
Despite using four high-performance linear actuators, the QS-V20 is relatively quiet during normal operation.
Qubic’s current testing records approximately 57.5–60.2dB(A) during typical gameplay with a 100kg test load.
Under its specified maximum-speed sinusoidal test, measured noise rises to approximately 65–66dB(A).
Actual noise will depend on the motion profile, payload, simulator configuration and room.
Is the Qubic QS-V20 Worth It?
The QS-V20 makes most sense for drivers who want significantly more physical feedback than a static cockpit but don’t necessarily need a large professional 6DOF platform.
Its biggest advantage is the combination of:
Complete racing cockpit
Pitch, roll and true heave
Integrated yaw / traction loss
High-speed QS-220 actuators
Compact footprint
QS-BT1 compatibility
Rather than building a cockpit and motion system separately, the QS-V20 provides an integrated route into professional-grade motion simulation.
For a premium home simulator, professional racing simulator or commercial installation, that can make it one of the most attractive systems within the Qubic range.
